From Airdrop Frenzy to "Hype Economy": A Content Creator's Journey in Encryption Social Media

In April 2023, I and a few friends stepped into the world of Crypto Twitter (CT). At that time, we focused on crafting Airdrop strategies. Each tweet required 1-2 hours of careful preparation, yet could garner 100,000 views in just 12 hours. Our daily routine became a simple cycle: wake up, write, post, eat, rest, and then repeat.

Looking back, that period can be called the golden years. Our small group of creators had an influence that occupied about 10% of the attention in the entire CT. Personally, I would receive one or two collaboration invitations from project parties each month, but at that time we valued influence more than money.

One morning, I was amazed to find that my account with only 10,000 followers had actually received 400,000 views. The joy of that moment far exceeded the satisfaction brought by the numbers in my wallet (even though at that time my savings were only four digits, it was still the most money I had ever earned in my life).

This situation continued until September 2023, when the algorithm changed. Meanwhile, I temporarily left CT and didn't return until December. The reason is simple; there were some interesting things in real life that needed to be dealt with, so I only posted a maximum of three tweets per month.

Around August 2023, I realized that the airdrop field was not a long-term solution and was not suitable for my development. I decided to transform into a DeFi novice. Now, where have those once-active airdrop content creators gone? I can hardly see them in the information stream.

In December 2023, a new chapter in my CT career began. I tried new writing styles, invested more effort, improved illustrations, and expanded my network, but the viewership actually decreased.

You might ask, has the view count really decreased? Indeed, it has. I have put in much more effort than before, but the views on my tweets are only 20,000. Occasionally, I can reach 100,000, but overall, the situation is still not as good as it used to be.

How is the situation now?

With the rise of the InfoFi concept, low-quality content has flooded the entire platform. The overall quality of content has significantly decreased, and 99% of people post because "a certain protocol allocates 5% of the tokens to content creators, I need to post more." The more rewards the project gives to content creators, the worse the situation becomes.

What is even more frustrating is that I feel like the quality of my content has reached an all-time high, and the effort I put in is increasing in sync, but the views and the number of new followers have dropped to an all-time low. My entire information flow is filled with worthless content.

What should we do in this situation?

Perhaps during the market's quiet times, we should strive to provide valuable content, enhance quality, and work hard to be unique. This path is becoming increasingly difficult for all content creators, and only the strongest can survive and thrive. Whether in CT or real life, maintaining focus and patience is crucial. Believe that one day, your efforts will be rewarded.
